Dairy Queen
OREO Blizzard 100

One of the most thoughtfully designed and well-planned advertising campaigns I had the opportunity to work on was a mobile web app and Facebook app created to celebrate the 100th anniversary of OREO. Developed almost entirely by the creative agency space150, the OREO Blizzard 100 app stood out from the many sweepstakes & contests I had previously been involved in. The level of detail and quality of design that space150 established going into this project made the front-end and back-end development incredibly smooth and the end result was better for it.

The OREO Blizzard 100 app was built during the peak of Foursquare’s popularity, and it cleverly leveraged that check-in trend and existing technology, by using Facebook’s check-in API. Users were encouraged to form a team with their Facebook friends and check-in at participating Dairy Queen locations across the United States — and possibly Canada. Each check-in gave players a chance to win prizes, driving foot traffic to Dairy Queen stores and increasing brand engagement.
The standout feature of this campaign by-far was the custom designed badges awarded for completing various milestones or checking-ins on designated days or holidays.
